John Marshall

John Marshall BVMS PhD DipACVS DipECVS MRCVS 

John is originally from Ayr and graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School before completing equine internship and surgery residency programs in the USA. John is both an American and European Diplomate in Equine Surgery and was awarded a PhD for equine studies by North Carolina State University. In 2010, John returned to the University of Glasgow as a Senior University Clinician in Equine Surgery where he developed the lameness and diagnostic imaging services including objective lameness assessment and MRI. 

John's clinical interests include advanced lameness assessment, arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of orthopaedic disease. John has published and presented equine clinical research nationally and internationally. 

In 2023, John joined us and launched Thistle Equine Referrals, providing advanced lameness and surgical services for referring veterinary surgeons, clients and horses across Scotland and the North of England.
