The shortlist has been announced for the British Equine Veterinary Association’s new BEVA One to Watch Award which recognises exceptional early-career equine vets.

This new award shines a spotlight on early-career equine veterinary professionals who are making waves, whether it's through their clinical skills, passion for equine welfare, leadership, or just being a legend in the field.

With a total of 10 nominations for the Award, received from clients, colleagues, mentors vet practices and organisations around the UK, since it was launched in April, the shortlist has been whittled down to four outstanding candidates. All nominations were reviewed by a panel of experts comprising a BEVA Careers Committee representative, a senior equine vet, a non-equine veterinary professional and an external industry representative. The four finalists have now been interviewed, and the judges are deep in discussion to select the worthiest winner.

The shortlist comprises:

Hannah Olivia Foster from Galedin Veterinary: Nominated by The British Horse Society Hannah is described as a pocket rocket who has supported The British Horse Society at many of their Healthcare & Education Clinics. “She creates a really positive and encouraging rapport with her clients whilst being able to educate and inspire owners to make positive changes to their management. She isn't shy of hard work, and this is why we think she is going to continue to thrive in this industry and continue to support all horses whether they are our welfare concerns or Olympic athletes!”

We feel incredibly lucky to have Archie on our team and are confident he will go on to make an incredible impact in equine practice. He represents everything the BEVA ‘One to Watch’ award celebrates: skill, potential, compassion, and a clear commitment to shaping a better future for horses, clients, and veterinary colleagues alike. He really deserves this recognition.”

Sarah has an excellent eye for the business and is always trying to think of new ideas to drive the practice forward and is also keen to embark on a certificate shortly. We feel very lucky she decided to become part of our team and look forward to helping her grow and develop over the next few years.”

Harriett is always the first to offer to assist with that early morning call and steps up to take the late-in-the-day emergency. All of us at Ballinger Equine appreciate just how lucky we and our clients and patients are to have Harriet on our team. As an example of the very best in the practice of veterinary medicine she is most definitely one to watch!”
