Photon Therapeutics brings innovative corneal infection treatment to BEVA Congress

Veterinary ophthalmology innovator Photon Therapeutics will showcase the PhotonUVC Vet, its revolutionary five-second treatment for corneal infections, at BEVA Congress.

Already in use by veterinary professionals internationally, PhotonUVC Vet represents a new class of treatment for microbial corneal infections. Visitors to Stand D43 will be able to meet the Photon Therapeutics team, see the device in action and learn more about its potential in the management of challenging corneal infections.

PhotonUVC Vet is a patented, handheld, non-contact device which delivers a precisely controlled dose of 265nm UVC light to the affected area of the cornea in just five seconds. The treatment rapidly inactivates infecting microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi and viruses, while being safe to host tissues.

Unlike conventional antimicrobial treatments, UVC acts directly on microbial DNA and RNA and is organism-agnostic, enabling treatment to be delivered at presentation without first having to identify the causative pathogen. Importantly, there is no known acquired microbial resistance to UVC, making the PhotonUVC Vet particularly relevant at a time when antimicrobial stewardship is an increasing priority across both human and veterinary medicine.

The technology is attracting growing international interest, with PhotonUVC Vet now in use by veterinary professionals around the world and Photon Therapeutics continuing to expand its international distribution and clinical experience.
