Professor Padraic M Dixon MVB PhD FRCVS Dip EVDC (Equine)
Prof PM Dixon is a graduate of University College Dublin, later obtaining a PhD on equine respiratory disease at The University of Edinburgh, where he worked for most of his professional career. He retired as Professor of Equine Surgery in 2021 and continues working as an independent surgical consultant. His main clinical and research interests are equine head and neck surgery and dental disorders. He has written over 250 refereed publications with over 9000 citations, numerous textbooks, and book chapters on these topics. He has also trained over 60 postgraduate students and residents in these areas. He is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Specialist in Equine Soft Tissue Surgery and a European Specialist in Equine Dentistry.

Francesca (Chez) de Oliveira DVM MANZCVS MRCVS
Chez graduated from the St George's University in 2011 and completed an equine internship at a busy equine hospital followed by some years in first opinion ambulatory equine practice, during which time she completed a certificate in equine medicine. Chez then went on to complete an ophthalmology residency, with a strong bias towards equine ophthalmology. Chez is cofounder of Equivision Vets (formerly Optivet Equine) which is a purely equine ophthalmology referral practice. Chez has a particular interest in corneal disease (both infectious and immune mediated) and corneal surgery. With a large and varied caseload, she is passionate about continuing to find advancements in equine clinical ophthalmology to achieve better outcomes for equine patients, with a focus on adopting small animal and human ophthalmology techniques in equine patients. As well as enjoying clinical work Chez is on the board and president elect of the Equine International Ophthalmology Consortium and part of several equine ophthalmology research working groups.?

Julie Dugmore RVN
Julie has worked in the veterinary nursing profession for almost 40 years. She began her career in small animal general practice, where she built strong clinical foundations and quickly discovered a passion for mentoring and developing others. This interest led her into teaching and education. Julie joined a small private training provider, where she developed veterinary nurse learning resources and contributed to the delivery of both veterinary and dental nursing programmes. This role strengthened her understanding of the UK education system and the wider training landscape. A committed champion of the veterinary nursing profession, Julie has dedicated her career to strengthening standards, education and professional recognition for veterinary nurses. In her current role as Director of Veterinary Nursing at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), she supports the profession's ongoing development and helps shape its future. Julie is particularly committed to ensuring veterinary nurses are recognised, effectively integrated and supported to work to their full potential. Julie is a contributing author to VN Vision: The Future of Veterinary Nursing Challenges, Opportunities and a Vision for Progress, alongside a range of RCVS publications. She also contributed to the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) definition and competencies for Team-Based Healthcare. Alongside her RCVS role, Julie is Chair of the Accreditation Committee for Veterinary Nurse Education (ACOVENE) and Treasurer of the European Specialist Nursing Organisation (ESNO), reflecting her commitment to strengthening veterinary nursing education and professional development across the UK and Europe.

Cath Featherstone BVSc MSc MRCVS
Cath graduated from Liverpool University in 2014. She has been honing her behavioural skills in hospital and first opinion practice over the last 11 years. She has completed a Masters in Equine Science with a focus on equine behaviour. Her research looked at vet and owner experiences of box rest. She is currently working towards Clinical Animal Behaviourist Certification.

Andy Fiske-Jackson BVSc MVetMed FHEA DipECVS MRCVS
Andy graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2004 and worked for the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad for the following three months. He then worked in mixed practice in Somerset. In July 2006 he undertook an eighteen-month internship at the Liphook Equine Hospital followed by a six-month ambulatory position. He then completed a three-year equine surgery residency and a Masters in Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. He took up the position of staff clinician in equine surgery in February 2012, becoming a lecturer in 2014, a senior lecturer in 2017, Associate Professor in Equine Surgery in 2021 and Professor of Equine Surgery and Orthopaedics in 2025. He became Head of RVC Equine in 2025. He is an RCVS and European Specialist in Equine Surgery with a particular interest in the use of the objective gait analysis system and the work-up of poor performance cases.

Emily Floyd, BVSc, CertAVP(VD), DACVIM, MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine
Emily graduated from the University of Bristol in 2003. She completed a residency in large animal internal medicine at UC Davis and became a Diplomate of the American College of Large Animal Internal Medicine. She works as a clinical director at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket. She enjoys all areas of internal medicine but has special interests neonatology and dermatology.
