Catriona Mackenzie BVMS, MSc, CertAVP(EM), DipECEIM, MRCVS Clinical Director and Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine, Rossdales Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre Catriona is a specialist in Equine Internal Medicine at Rossdales Equine Hospital. She joined Rossdales in 2009 after spending stud seasons working in Australia and Kentucky. Following an internship, she remained with the Rossdales stud team for several years before undertaking a three-year residency at the University of Liverpool, where she became a Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. Catriona rejoined Rossdales as part of the hospital medicine team in 2017 and became a partner in April 2020. Her areas of interest include neonatal medicine, intensive care and gastrointestinal disease.

Clare MacLeod MSc RNutr Clare is an independent equine nutritionist with over 25 years’ experience in applied equine nutrition, who is registered with the Association for Nutrition. She has worked as a freelance consultant since 2004, providing evidence-based, brand-neutral advice and education to horse owners, veterinary professionals and the wider equine industry. Her work includes supporting leisure, performance and clinical cases, particularly those involving gastrointestinal disease, myopathies, obesity and endocrine disorders. She has advised on horses and ponies ranging from companions to British team level. In addition to her consultancy, through her online learning and advice resources Clare has created an accessible route for all owners to gain a deeper understanding of equine nutrition grounded in current research. Clare is a regular speaker and published writer and is known for translating complex nutrition science into clear, practical guidance to support everyday equine health and welfare.

Tim Mair PhD DEIM DESTS DipECEIM AssocECVDI FRCVS Following graduation from the University of Bristol, Tim worked in mixed practice before returning to Bristol to undertake research in equine immunology and lecturing in equine medicine. He joined Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic in 1989, concentrating on internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and advanced imaging. He has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and co-authored several textbooks. He is Honorary Professor of the Royal Veterinary College, a past President of the British Equine Veterinary Association and editor of Equine Veterinary Education. He is Equine Veterinary Director of CVS, and his research/quality improvement focus on antibiotic and anthelmintic use in equine practice.

Fernando Malalana DVM PhD DipECEIM FHEA FRCVS Fernando graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2001 followed by 6 years in mixed practice in East Yorkshire, UK. In 2008 he moved to the University of Liverpool where he completed an ECEIM residency in Equine Internal Medicine. Fernando has been a European Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine since 2011 and currently works as a senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool. In 2021 he completed a PhD on the Epidemiology of Uveitis. Fernando is interested in all aspects of Equine Medicine but he has a particular interest in general ophthalmology, ophthalmic oncology and ophthalmic surgery.

Gabriel Manso Diaz DVM, MSc, PhD, DipECVDI, MRCVS Gabriel graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain, before completing a Master's degree in Research in Veterinary Sciences. He subsequently obtained a PhD focused on advanced imaging modalities, specifically computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), for the diagnosis of equine head disorders. He then completed a residency in Diagnostic Imaging (Large Animal Track) at the Royal Veterinary College, London, and achieved board certification with the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI). He is currently a Senior Lecturer at UCM, where he combines clinical referral work as an equine radiologist with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as research in large animal diagnostic imaging. In addition, he serves as an international imaging consultant for several referral centres and is an active lecturer at international congresses and CPDs.
