Stacey Newton

Stacey Newton BVSc, CertEM (Int Med), PhD, FRCPATH, MRCVS 


Stacey qualified from the University of Bristol in 1993. She initially worked in general practice as a locum and in a permanent position. In 1995 she started an internal medicine residency in equine medicine at the University of Liverpool, Leahurst. She obtained her certificate in equine medicine (Int Med) during that time. She then followed this with a PhD in equine neurology, also based at the University of Liverpool. This was mainly based on headshaking in horses and working with Dr Knottenbelt. Paul Eldridge a Neurosurgeon at The Walton Hospital, Liverpool was also involved. The residency and PhD were funded by The Home of Rest for Horses and Horseracing Betting Levy Board, respectively. The PhD was obtained in 2002. She then locumed for a variety of veterinary practices for six months before then joining Nationwide Laboratories. She obtained her Diplomat of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2008 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2010. She has various published papers during her time at university on equine medicine. She has also talked at the BEVA Congress and other venues providing CPD. She is currently working at Nationwide as a Head Veterinary Clinical Pathologist.
